Role Introduction
As the Operations Manager - The Champion Sports Bar for Kai Tak Sports Park, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of The Champion and managing the beverage service within the stadium. You will ensure the highest level of customer service, compliance with food safety regulations, and drive sustainability initiatives within the beverage operations. In addition, you will play a key role in marketing The Champion as the go-to destination, providing excellent and friendly service to guests, and managing entertainment activities such as the golf simulator and F1 simulator in the bar. You will work closely with various stakeholders to develop and implement standards and protocols, monitor compliance, and foster a culture of excellence in beverage service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of The Champion and beverage services in the stadium, ensuring efficient and smooth service delivery.
- Manage overall beverage service operations during events and peak periods, including stock management, inventory checks, and supplier coordination.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for beverage service, including opening and closing procedures, order fulfilment, and cash handling.
- Train and supervise bartenders and beverage service staff, providing guidance on service standards, product knowledge, and customer engagement.
- Ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service practices, age verification, and local liquor laws and regulations.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards in beverage service areas, including bar stations, storage areas, and equipment.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain beverage consistency and integrity, including taste, presentation, and temperature.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and introduce innovative offerings to enhance the beverage menu.
- Collaborate with the food and beverage team to develop special promotions, themed events, and beverage pairing options.
- Needs to be responsible for all major Sports programming on TV and its marketing. Predominantly but no limited to: Soccer, Rugby, F-1, Golf, Darts, Tennis. Be up to date with these sports in The Champion.
- In addition, be responsible for programming events within The Champion such as Live entertainment, theme nights, promotions, tournaments etc
- Coordinate beverage requirements for specific events in the stadium, ensuring adequate staffing and supplies.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive bartender training programs, keeping them up to date with industry best practices.
- Implement monitoring systems to track bartenders' performance, speed of service, and customer satisfaction.
- Foster a positive work culture and team spirit among beverage service staff, encouraging open communication and a customer-centric approach.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of beverage service during events.
- Address customer feedback, suggestions, and complaints related to beverage service promptly.
- Continuously evaluate and improve beverage service processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings.
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to position The Champion and beverage services as premier offerings within the stadium.
- Manage and coordinate entertainment activities in the bar, such as interactive experiences and simulators.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional initiatives, events, and partnerships to attract customers to The Champion.
- Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance the guest experience.
- Develop sustainability strategies and action plans for beverage service and entertainment activities, aligning with overall sustainability goals.
- Manage and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to beverage service and entertainment activities.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and manuals for beverage service processes.
Requirements
- Formal education and working experience in bar management, hospitality, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in managing and operating large bars with entertainment components, such as sports bars, nightclubs, or similar venues.
- Proven track record in driving business growth and attracting a diverse customer base to the bar.
- Strong understanding of beverage service operations, including inventory management, cost control, and staff scheduling.
- Experience in managing and coordinating entertainment activities within a bar setting, such as live music, DJs, interactive experiences, or sports simulators.
- Proficiency in developing and executing marketing strategies to promote the bar and increase customer engagement.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse staff.
- Knowledge of local regulations and licensing requirements related to bar operations and entertainment activities.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for guests.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers, staff, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the bar and entertainment industry.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
