Role Introduction

The Engineer - AV Maintenance is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all audio-visual and digital signage systems throughout Kai Tak Sports Park. This role will ensure optimal performance of AV equipment and digital displays during events and daily operations. The position requires technical expertise in AV systems, preventative maintenance procedures, and rapid problem-solving capabilities to minimize downtime. This role will collaborate with various departments including Technical Services, Assets and Facilities, IT, Operations, and Marketing to ensure seamless AV and digital signage integration across the venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain audio-visual equipment including digital signage displays, video walls, projectors, sound systems, and control systems.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all AV and digital signage assets to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to AV systems and digital signage networks.
  • Manage inventory of AV equipment, spare parts, and consumables, coordinate with procurement for replacements and upgrades.
  • Document all maintenance activities, equipment specifications, and troubleshooting procedures for knowledge sharing.
  • Provide technical support during events to ensure all AV systems function properly for optimal visitor experience.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Content team to ensure proper display of content across the digital signage network.
  • Maintain cabling infrastructure for AV systems including signal, power, and network connectivity.
  • Stay current with emerging AV technologies and recommend system upgrades or improvements.
  • Ensure all AV systems comply with safety standards and operational protocols.
  • Train venue staff on basic AV equipment operation and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in event setup and breakdown as required, including after-hours and weekend events.
  • Monitor system performance and conduct regular quality checks of audio and visual output.
  • Liaise with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in maintaining and troubleshooting professional AV systems.
  • Working knowledge of digital signage hardware, content management systems, and network configuration.
  • Experience with professional audio systems, video displays, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics and documentation.
  • Familiarity with IP networks and protocols related to AV over IP solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during live events.
  • Physical capability to lift equipment up to 20kg and work at heights when necessary.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as events require.
  • Certification in relevant AV technologies (CTS, manufacturer certifications) is a plus.
