About the job Sales, General Manager
Our client is a global leading provider of vibration control solutions, headquartered in Europe, with business covering multiple market segments including industry, power, metro and rail transit, building and construction. The China headquarters, located in Qingdao, Shandong province, has been operating locally for close to 30 years. The China organisation integrates full production capabilities, supply chain management, design and R&D, sales and marketing, and all key support functions inclusive of HR, Finance and EHS. It operates under an ETO model, with end-to-end capabilities from engineering design to project delivery.
Given its continuous growth over the last 3 decades together with many pioneers taking the leadership roles in the organisation, the management sees a need for a succession plan to enable the organisation, business and teams to embrace increasingly demanding market needs. Therefore, our client is seeking an ambitious and forward-looking Sales General Manager to be based in Qingdao, to drive the business growth.
Sales Management and P&L Accountability
- Formulate annual sales strategies and performance targets based on industry trends
- Take full accountability for the P&L of the business units, including sales revenue, gross profit, and payment collection
- Work closely with Finance to monitor actuals against budgets and lead the business to achieve targets cost-efficiently
- Decompose KPIs for teams, conduct regular business reviews, and dynamically refine sales strategies
- Oversee staffing, talent development, and performance management to ensure a motivated and high-performing sales organization
- Leverage industry networks to develop mid-to-high-level client relationships, securing a strong market position in China
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to offer tailored solutions that strengthen market coverage and solution-selling capabilities
Marketing & Business Development
- Establish and strengthen the Marketing & Business Development function within the company to professionally collect and analyse customer/market data to drive decision-making
- Review the sales process to ensure transparency and compliance with existing rules and regulations, expand market communication, and utilize all applicable media channels as needed, such as conferences, online media, magazines, industry forums and meetings
- Strategically plan and systematically develop new business areas (e.g., metro aftermarket, wind energy, Novodamp, etc.)
Structural Design Team Management
- Work closely with the Design Director and support him to supervise the structural design team (including architectural, subway, industrial/power structures, and engineering) as a member of the supervision board
- Coordinate with the Design Director to manage all aspects of the design and engineering processes
- Lead the team from pre-inquiry technical submissions to full-project technical consultation
- Evaluate design trade-offs, provide technical guidance, and collaborate with the German HQ to integrate emerging trends in vibration control and structural design
- Partner with R&D, Operations, and other teams to ensure solutions are manufacturable, assemble-able, and testable, maximizing product cost-effectiveness and profitability
- Provide inputs on product definition, pricing, and marketing plans
Risk Control & Operational Excellence
- Manage full-process operational risks, including contracts, quotations, and accounts receivable
- Formulate and control sales expense budgets to optimize operating costs.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to realize a closed-loop operation from front-end sales to back-end delivery and settlements, ensuring transparency and compliance
