PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The incumbent is responsible for handling all statutory compliance functions, general administration, as well as providing assistance to the Group Company Secretary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring that all entities in the group comply with all relevant statutory provisions, King IV and the Generally Accepted Compliance Practice principles, which include identifying all relevant statutory provisions which may apply either directly or indirectly to the group of companies;
  • Ensuring development, implementation, management and maintenance of compliance risk management programmes for the group of companies;
  • Providing training to all personnel in the group in respect of objective law as a whole, which includes identifying training and awareness needs, designing training courses, followed by ensuring assessment of course attendees;
  • Monitoring the compliance of the group, in line with South African legislation, as well as any other country where the group conducts business, which includes the use of adequate, consistent and substantive reviews to determine if controls are properly executed;
  • Assisting with routine monitoring in collaboration with the Assurance Services Department and reporting compliance and non- compliance to the relevant forum within the group;
  • Reporting to management, as well as the Social and Ethics Committee in consultation with the Group Company Secretary of the group; as well as
  • Supporting the Group Company Secretary with any fundamental transactions and administrative tasks necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • The suitable candidate must at least have a law degree (LLB, BCom Law, BJuris or BProc), or an honours degree in Risk Management / Internal Audit, or a CPrac designation from the Compliance Institute of South Africa.
  • At least two years' relevant experience;
  • Must be fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English (written and verbal).
