About the Superintendent Job:

A Construction Superintendent at Our client completes organizational and site management responsibilities to effectively lead the construction team and ensure they have all of the resources they need. He or she will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Manage a team of workers, including work schedules, project progress and resource allocation

Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, other construction management to determine

budget and timeline

Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers

Execute project schedules for workers and subcontractors

Maintain a daily log for the job site's operations, reporting to management as necessary

Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines

Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient

What does a Construction Superintendent do at our client location?

A Construction Superintendent is a construction team leader who manages project schedules,

monitors construction workers’ progress, coordinates inspections and maintaining all necessary

equipment and supplies. These professionals typically work for construction companies to

ensure construction workers are efficient, work meets local and federal regulations and

construction progresses according to schedule and budget.

You will be on the job site ensuring the highest quality assurance and customer satisfaction

possible. The customer and workers will know you are in charge to get the job done on time

and on budget. Be prepared to handle personalities, conflict, and customers with patience,

customers. As a leader of a team, you will be required to set the example in attitude, expertise,

work- ethic, and organization.

Construction Superintendent skills and qualifications:

Construction Superintendents use a variety of soft skills, technical abilities and industry

knowledge to manage a construction project effectively, including:

Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening

Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices

Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies

Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of

maintenance issues

In-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations

Great problem-solving and decision-making skills

Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal-setting and conflict management

Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization and multitasking

Lifting and/or moving items of 50 pounds; more weight with a team lift

Climb ladders, scaffolds, staircases

Use manual tools like a shovel, hammer, etc.

Forward thinking and resource planning

Efficiency monitoring of construction workers

Construction Superintendent education and training requirements:

Construction Superintendent candidates qualify for this role with only a high school diploma or

GED and years of on-the-job training from previous experience and certifications. Associate’s or

bachelor’s degrees in construction management, architecture, engineering or another relevant

discipline are encouraged. Candidates who also have professional certifications, including

Certified Construction Manager or Certified Professional Constructor certificates are also

encouraged.

Construction Superintendent experience requirements:

As a supervisory position, Construction Superintendent candidates need years of previous

experience in the construction industry. Managerial experience on a construction team is also a

plus.

15 years construction experience

5 years construction management experience

Training in management

Training in interpersonal communication

Professional certificates and/or degrees (not required but a bonus)

OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications
