Technologist, Cloud Engineering

Job Description

JOSA, a Jordanian organization dedicated to promoting and advancing open-source technology for social good, is seeking a skilled and motivated Technologist / Cloud Engineer to strengthen its technical infrastructure and support the delivery of secure, scalable, and sustainable digital services.

This role will focus on supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud-based systems that support JOSAs programs, internal operations, and client-facing services.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong alignment with JOSAs mission and values.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Previous working experience in cloud, DevOps, system administration, or infrastructure support is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (e.g., virtual machines, storage, networking).
• Familiarity with Linux and open-source tools.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker; exposure to Kubernetes is a plus.
• Interest in automation, scripting, and infrastructure tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform is a plus).
  

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the operation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipelines under the supervision of senior technical staff.
• Assist in deploying applications and services using cloud-based tools and basic Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Monitor system performance and respond to technical alerts, contributing to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Support the management of containerized environments and development environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Follow cloud security best practices, assist in system hardening, and support the implementation of secure configurations.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational guides, and system records, ensuring clarity and consistency.
• Participate in system reviews, internal knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous improvement processes.
• Provide technical support to program teams in deploying and running cloud-based tools for training, research, and service delivery.
