Are you an experienced Civil Engineer and Project Manager with a passion for delivering complex transportation infrastructure projects? We are seeking a Transportation Structural Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through every phase of project delivery—from planning and design to construction support and closeout.
This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned engineering professional with expertise in project management, structural transportation projects, client relationship management, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and proposal development. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality transportation infrastructure projects while mentoring project teams and supporting business growth.
Position Overview
As a Transportation Structural Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple engineering projects while ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will oversee project planning, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage project risks, communicate with clients and stakeholders, and support business development initiatives.
This position requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills to successfully manage transportation and structural engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Manage transportation and structural engineering projects from planning through completion.
- Deliver projects in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Develop comprehensive Project Management Plans (PMPs) and Quality Management Plans.
- Create, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project resources and staffing requirements.
Financial & Risk Management
- Develop project budgets and monitor financial performance.
- Track project progress and identify potential risks.
- Implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and manage change orders, additional service requests, and task proposals.
- Participate in project financial review meetings.
- Review invoices and monitor project profitability.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, milestones, risks, and key updates.
- Understand client objectives and deliver solutions that exceed expectations.
- Lead project meetings, presentations, and progress reviews.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and coach engineers and project team members.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and provide performance feedback.
- Encourage collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional development.
- Facilitate project debriefs and lessons learned to improve future project delivery.
Business Development
- Support strategic marketing and business development initiatives.
- Participate in Go/No-Go evaluations.
- Lead and contribute to proposal development and interview presentations.
- Collaborate with office leadership to identify new business opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering and engineering project management experience.
- Strong experience managing transportation or structural engineering projects.
- Demonstrated success managing project scope, schedules, budgets, and project teams.
- Experience developing Project Management Plans and Quality Management Plans.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or other applicable professional certification.
- Experience working with county and state transportation agencies.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Work Environment
- Primarily office-based (approximately 95%).
- Occasional field visits to active project sites.
