About the Opportunity

We are seeking a technically driven Sales Engineer to support the selection, application, quotation, and promotion of industrial pump systems and related control products. This role serves as the technical bridge between customers, distributors, engineering, and sales teams, providing expert guidance on pump applications, system design, and product selection.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering knowledge with customer-facing experience and enjoys solving technical challenges while supporting business growth across domestic and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sales support for industrial pump systems, control products, replacement components, and accessories.
  • Evaluate customer applications and determine appropriate pump selection based on operating conditions and performance requirements.
  • Interpret pump performance curves and hydraulic data to recommend optimal solutions.
  • Analyze fluid properties and recommend suitable pump materials and configurations.
  • Prepare accurate technical quotations using published pricing, engineering documentation, and product specifications.
  • Support distributors, contractors, OEMs, consulting engineers, and end users throughout the sales process.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, mechanical layouts, and electrical schematics to ensure proper product selection.
  • Assist with control panel selection and coordinate engineered control solutions with internal engineering teams.
  • Identify electrical power requirements and recommend compatible equipment.
  • Cross-reference competitor products and recommend equivalent solutions.
  • Support outside sales representatives with technical expertise and customer presentations.
  • Conduct product training for distributors, customers, and internal teams.
  • Assist marketing and engineering departments with new product launches and application development.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and quotation records within company systems.
  • Travel as needed to support customers, distributors, and sales initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Application Engineer, Technical Sales, or similar customer-facing engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of industrial pump systems and fluid handling applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Pump performance curves
    • Engineering drawings
    • Mechanical drawings
    • Electrical schematics
  • Experience preparing technical quotations and supporting industrial product sales.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Excellent customer communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting distributors, OEMs, contractors, or industrial customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of centrifugal pump construction and material selection.
  • Experience with wastewater, industrial, mining, municipal, or dewatering pump applications.
  • Familiarity with control panel logic and industrial controls.
  • Experience supporting municipal specifications and competitive bid processes.
  • CAD or SolidWorks experience.
  • Experience using ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics or Business Central.
  • Familiarity with industrial distribution channels.
  • Experience delivering technical product presentations or customer training.
