Reporting to : Maintenance Co-ordinator
Purpose of the position
To install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems within an automotive component manufacturing environment, ensuring maximum machine uptime, production efficiency, quality compliance, and adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
- Qualified Millwright Trade Test (Red Seal)
- N3–N6 Engineering Studies advantageous
- 3–5 years' experience in automotive component manufacturing on Press shop equipment, Robotic systems, PLC fault-finding, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Automated assembly lines
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- PLC knowledge (Siemens, Omron, Allen Bradley advantageous)
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Computer literacy (MS Office and maintenance systems)
- Analytical thinking
- Strong safety awareness
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transportation
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:-
- Conduct scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance
- Complete maintenance checklists and records accurately
- Ensure all equipment complies with OEM specifications and safety standards
- Perform lubrication and routine inspections
- Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
- Repair and replace defective components.
- Conduct root cause analysis on recurring failures.
- Escalate critical issues to management where necessary.
- Electrical Maintenance
- Perform lockout and isolation procedures safely
- Conduct welding and fabrication when required.
- Assist with PLC fault-finding and machine automation improvements.
- Support robotic and automated production systems.
- Assist with machine commissioning and upgrades
- Ensure safe working practices at all times
- Ensure maintenance activities do not compromise product quality
- Ensure Compliance with OHSA and Customer specific requirements, and Quality Standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in Kaizen and TPM activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Assist in reducing scrap, downtime, and maintenance costs.
- Support energy-saving initiatives
- Perform any other assigned reasonable duties and responsibilities
