Job Title: Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary: The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, monitor and analyze accounting data, and produce financial reports or statements. This role requires a highly meticulous and analytical professional who embraces technology, possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles, and can lead a team to meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead the accounting department staff, including accountants and clerks.
  • Oversee routine department activities, such as payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status by developing budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns directly or through coordination with external tax accountants.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes ensuring timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and company procedures.
  • Liaise with the firms clients to provide comprehensive accounting services and support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
  • Professional certification (SAIPA , CIMA , CA(SA) etc.) 
  • Proven experience as an accounting supervisor or senior accountant.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
  • Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with standard office hours.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods such as end-of-year reporting.
