Job Overview

The Operations / Installations Assistant supports the daily functions of a warehouse environment and assists with the delivery, servicing, and installation of modular systems. Working closely with the Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining inventory, preparing equipment for dispatch, assisting with deliveries, and supporting on-site installations.

This position requires a practical, hands-on individual who can follow instructions, work effectively within a team, and operate in a dynamic and physically demanding environment. Duties include preparing, packing, loading and offloading equipment, assisting with installations, and supporting troubleshooting activities.

The role will require travel to customer sites and assisting with installations using a company vehicle and trailer.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Support

  • Assist with receiving, checking and storing inventory and deliveries.
  • Prepare, verify and pack goods for dispatch and delivery.
  • Load and offload goods and materials for deliveries, collections and installations.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
  • Participate in stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the warehouse, workshop and related areas.

Installations and Field Support

  • Assist with installation and servicing activities under supervision.
  • Support basic installations independently where required.
  • Load and transport equipment safely using vehicles and trailers where applicable.
  • Provide physical assistance during onsite installations (assembling, positioning, anchoring systems etc.).
  • Assist with minor fabrication tasks and the use of hand tools.
  • Follow troubleshooting instructions and assist in resolving installation issues.
  • Ensure worksites are cleaned and restored after installations.
  • Assist with maintaining company tools, vehicles and trailers.

Communication, Data Management and Administration

  • Report work progress and inventory usage to the Supervisor.
  • Follow work plans and instructions to ensure tasks are completed correctly.
  • Assist with completing delivery documentation, installation checklists and timesheets.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Use Microsoft Office 365 tools when required.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with completion of required safety documentation.
  • Report incidents or accidents immediately to the Supervisor.
  • Work safely alongside temporary staff or contractors when required.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential).

Experience

  • Technical or mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools.
  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, installations, or technical environments advantageous.
  • Experience in the marine industry or outdoor installation work beneficial.

Technical Skills

  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and procedures.

Licensing

  • Valid drivers license (Code 08).
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Code EB (trailer towing) advantageous.
  • Forklift licence advantageous.

Additional Requirements

  • Comfortable working around or in water environments and must be able to swim.
  • Reliable mobile phone.
  • Willingness to travel and work outdoors.
