Position Overview
Our client, a recognized leader in the energy and industrial sector, is seeking a proactive and experienced Process Safety Specialist to enhance safety practices and ensure compliance with international standards. This role focuses on advising, planning, and supporting process safety management (PSM), risk prevention, and fire protection initiatives to minimize risks and foster a safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to line managers on all aspects of process safety management (PSM), HSE risk management, and loss prevention systems.
- Develop and implement fire prevention and protection strategies in alignment with international safety standards.
- Conduct risk assessments using methodologies such as Bow Tie, HAZOP, Fault Tree Analysis, and Event Tree Analysis to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Monitor and document the progress of PSM programs, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate training sessions and presentations to promote safety awareness and best practices among team members and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance safety protocols during refinery and petrochemical design and construction phases.
- Lead investigations of incidents and near-misses, providing actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Encourage and maintain high morale and teamwork among colleagues through motivation, support, and clear communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Loss Management Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of practical experience in process safety, risk management, or related disciplines.
- Solid understanding of refinery and petrochemical safety in design and construction.
- Expertise in risk assessment tools and methodologies, including Bow Tie, HAZOP, and Event Tree Analysis.
- Strong leadership skills with a proactive and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others effectively.
- Proficiency in safety analysis software such as Microsoft Office, PHAST, and PHA-Pro.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to track and report program progress.
