Position Overview

Our client, a leader in industrial safety and risk management, is seeking an experienced Fire Prevention and Protection Specialist to oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of fire safety systems. This role involves ensuring compliance with international safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of safety excellence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support initiatives related to process safety management, HSE risk management, and fire prevention and protection systems to meet international standards.
  • Design and assess fire prevention and protection systems, ensuring alignment with international codes and standards (DEP, NFPA, API, etc.), including fire and gas detection, mapping, and hazard analysis.
  • Conduct heat radiation and gas dispersion modeling studies using PHAST software and provide recommendations to ensure operational designs are consistent with ALARP principles.
  • Perform risk assessments using methodologies such as Bow Tie, HAZOP, and similar frameworks to identify and mitigate hazards effectively.
  • Provide technical expertise in refinery and petrochemical safety design and construction safety management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to specify firefighting equipment, determine fire water demand, and optimize fireproofing and water distribution systems.
  • Analyze fire safety systems and procedures, proposing continuous improvements to reduce potential risks and enhance safety outcomes.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to promote awareness of fire prevention and protection best practices.
  • Inspire and motivate team members through effective leadership and communication to maintain high morale and foster a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in fire prevention, protection system design, and safety management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international fire safety standards and regulations, including DEP, NFPA, and API.
  • Expertise in risk assessment methodologies such as Bow Tie and HAZOP.
  • Proficiency in fire safety modeling tools, including PHAST software.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality training and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to track and document progress.
  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Loss Management Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
