Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, revise, and manage the import compliance process. Incorporate the primary compliance areas defined by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP): Harmonized Tariff Classification, country of origin, duties, tariffs, recordkeeping, and valuation.
- Develop, implement, revise, and manage the export compliance process.
- Maintain database of verified classification numbers. Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Schedule B codes.
- Facilitate the completion and distribution of the USMCA Certification of Origin documents. Maintain the system to account for new and obsolete product.
- Ensure customs compliance in business transactions. Provide technical expertise to resolve any compliance related matter; including prior disclosures and inquiries received from the CBP.
- Conduct import / export / USMCA compliance training and post audits.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
0-2 years operational experience in international transportation preferably with an international logistics provider.
Knowledge and experience in PC and Mainframe, spreadsheets and databases (Excel and Word) applications.
