Founding Full Stack Engineer (Frontend-Leaning)
Compensation: Up to $150K base (varies by level and interview performance) + competitive equity
Location: New York City, NY
Work Policy: In-office / Hybrid (NYC only – relocation required if not local)
Relocation: Up to $10K assistance available
Stage: Seed-stage legal AI startup | $3M funding | ~6 engineers | Hiring 2–3 engineers
Who Are We?
Were a seed-stage legal AI startup reinventing how in-house legal teams operate. Legal workflows today are slow, repetitive, and manual—were building an AI-powered intake and automation platform that changes that. Founded by engineers with legal backgrounds and backed by top-tier VCs, we already have customers, design partners, and a public launch planned.
This is a true early-team opportunity. You wont be maintaining legacy code—you'll be building product foundations alongside founders who move quickly and expect the same from their team.

What Will You Do?
Build and maintain React frontend components and Node.js backend services.
Ship end-to-end features across UI and backend layers.
Work within agile workflows: define user stories, estimate work, and deliver production-ready code.
Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and monitoring.
Troubleshoot production issues quickly and contribute to operational excellence.
Collaborate closely with senior engineers on architecture and scaling decisions.
What Will You Need?
1–2 years of full stack development experience (React + Node.js + TypeScript).
Strong React frontend experience (frontend-leaning is now critical).
Working knowledge of Node.js backend development.
CS degree required.
Familiarity with GCP or another major cloud platform.
Strong problem-solving ability and a high-ownership mindset.
Clear hunger for startup pace and early-stage intensity.
Genuine interest in legal tech and building AI-powered products.
Strongly Preferred
Experience at a growth-stage startup (01 or early scaling).
Former founder or founding team experience demonstrating hustle and ownership.
Experience at top-tier growth companies or FAANG-level organizations (with evidence of strong engineering fundamentals).
Experience working with Postgres and writing SQL queries.
Strong GitHub presence and meaningful side projects (founders will review code).
Experience building customer-facing applications.
Must Not Have
Exclusively worked at legacy enterprise tech companies or non-technology industries without startup exposure.
Primarily frontend-only or DevOps-only focus without full stack ownership.
Lack of interest in startup hours or early-stage intensity.
Pattern of performance-based job hopping.
