What You Will Do
- Develop, deploy, and maintain automation for lab procedures using Python, Docker, and Linux.
- Build and refine robotic systems for liquid handling, DNA sequencing, and sample processing.
- Work directly with scientists to translate manual lab workflows into automated solutions.
- Integrate software with hardware components, including Raspberry Pi and custom-built 3D-printed modules.
- Design and prototype lab automation tools using Fusion 360 and CAD modeling.
- Implement QA, telemetry, and monitoring systems to ensure device stability.
What You Will Need
- 3+ years of Python programming (Flask or Django is a plus).
- Experience with lab automation using liquid handling systems (OpenTrons OT-2 strongly preferred).
- Molecular biology background (1+ years of lab experience, including college-level research).
- Hardware/embedded systems experience, including Raspberry Pi and Linux.
- 3D printing and CAD modeling (Fusion 360 preferred).
- Experience with Docker and Ansible for automation and deployment.
- Hacker mindset: Ability to build, iterate, and solve complex problems independently.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with simple computer vision (OpenCV).
- Passion for biotechnology, DNA sequencing, and automation.
- Strong portfolio of personal or side projects involving software, hardware, and robotics.
