Manufacturing Engineer / Robotics Software Engineer
Location: Los Angeles, CA (In-office near LAX)
Compensation: $90,000 $155,000 + Equity (TBD)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Who are we?

Were a venture-backed startup working on a bold, category-defining mission: to bring sunlight to Earth after dark. By building a constellation of space-based reflectors that beam solar energy back to Earth at night, we aim to solve one of the biggest limitations of renewable energy its absence after sunset.

With nearly $9M in seed funding, a spacecraft launching in 2026, and a founding team of experienced aerospace engineers, were turning a science fiction dream into a practical energy revolution.

What's in it for you?

  • Build spacecraft systems from the ground up with a hands-on, fast-moving team

  • Equity in a high-upside, VC-backed space startup

  • $5,000-$10,000 relocation assistance to Los Angeles

  • 100% coverage for base medical, dental, and vision plans

  • HSA, FSA, 401K, and commuter benefits

  • Daily healthy lunches + unlimited PTO (minimum two weeks required)

  • Work in a tight-knit, ambitious team where unconventional paths are celebrated

What will you do?

  • Design and manufacture space-ready, ultra-thin deployable reflectors

  • Translate theory into production-ready processes that scale to thousands of units

  • Collaborate with the core team to iterate rapidly on reflector hardware

  • Prototype, test, and refine lightweight mechanical systems for flight

  • Bridge design and manufacturing to ensure readiness for launch timelines

What will you need?

Must Have (but not always in the traditional form):

  • Experience manufacturing very thin and lightweight materials

  • Knowledge of deployable structures or solar sails is a major plus

  • Skilled with your hands and an eye for precision

  • Ability to develop production processes from scratch

  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related engineering (or equivalent real-world experience)

But here's the real requirement:

Were looking for outliers. Builders. People who've done something that makes us say: Wait what?!

That could be:

  • A viral inventor or self-taught engineer

  • A standout personal project that turned heads

  • The youngest lead on a mission-critical program

  • Promoted three times at a top company with no degree

  • Built a deployable structure solo in your garage

We care more about what you've done than where you went to school or what's on your resume. If you've defied convention, we want to hear about it.
