Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and safety-drivenMaintenance Managerto lead our maintenance department at Cariboo Gold Mine. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all maintenance strategies for the surface and undergound operations equipment. Your primary goal will be to maximize equipment availability and reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure all maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Pay: CA$95.00 - CA$110.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Develop, promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the maintenance department
- Champion a zero-harm safety culture within the maintenance department
- Ensure strict compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory standards
- Lead accident/incident investigations related to maintenance operations and implement corrective actions
- Conduct regular workplace inspection, audits and toolbox/safety meetings
- Champion hazard identification and risk assessments (record in SiteDocs)
Strategic & Operational Maintenance
- Develop and execute comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all site equipment (including haul trucks, jumbo, bolters, scoops, scissor lifts, drifter, electrical sub-stations, PTO / starts, and compressors)
- Maintenance program developed is to achieve an 85% equipment availability target
- Develop and monitoring and tracking program of drifter to ensure they receive require maintenance prior to failure
- Coordinate planned maintenance with operations
- Optimize Labour labour utilization, included identifying skillsets required to achieve availability targets
- Ensure all maintenance work order are completed and documented (all work orders and inventory to be entered and tracked withing Maintain X)
- Monitor equipment performance metrics (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, Mechanical Availability) and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee the effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory, and historical data
Leadership & Team Management
- Direct, mentor, and evaluate a diverse team of maintenance supervisors, planners, mechanics, electricians, and support staff
- Conduct performance evaluations
- Identify training needs and foster the professional development of the maintenance workforce
- Support apprenticeship and employee training and development
- Promote accountability and continuous improvement
- Coordinate seamlessly with the Operations and Mine Planning departments to align maintenance schedules with production goals
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance operating and capital budgets
- Monitor spending, analyze cost variances, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising safety or reliability
- Manage relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), third-party contractors, and parts suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery
- Evaluate repairs versus replacement decisions
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or reliability
Inventory and Procurement
- Manage maintenance inventory
- Establish minimum and maximum stock levels
- Coordinate procurement of parts and consumables
- Ensure critical spare components are available
- Develop rebuild program of major components (axles, pump, cylinders)
- Reduce obsolete inventory

Experience:
- Mechanical knowledge: 10 years (preferred)
- Management: 2 years (required)
