About the Role

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and change management on a large‑scale project site. This is a fly‑in / fly‑out (FIFO), camp‑based role operating on a rotational schedule, with full camp accommodations provided while on site. The Project Controls Specialist will work closely with site leadership, engineering, construction, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the approved project scope, budget, and schedule. This role is critical to maintaining cost certainty, schedule performance, and effective change control in a fast‑paced site environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve project controls systems and processes on site
  • Monitor and report project performance using KPIs including CPI, SPI, and earned value metrics
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, forecasts, cash flow projections, and trend analyses
  • Maintain accurate project cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting tools
  • Conduct cost variance analysis and root‑cause investigations
  • Track commitments, actuals, incurred costs, accruals, and cash flow
  • Review and validate contractor invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance
  • Identify potential cost risks and opportunities and communicate impacts to project leadership
  • Maintain and update the integrated project schedule using Primavera P6
  • Support development and monitoring of contract milestones aligned with the master schedule
  • Analyze schedule performance, critical paths, and schedule risks
  • Review and validate contractor and third‑party schedules
  • Track progress on engineering, procurement, and construction deliverables
  • Identify, document, and assess trends, variations, and potential changes
  • Support the project change management process and evaluate impacts to cost and schedule
  • Maintain change logs and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, procurement, and contractor teams

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls across multiple project phases
  • Strong experience with cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and change management
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 (required)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with project controls and cost management software is considered an asset
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCP, or similar (preferred)
