Job Description:
The Project Controls Manager plays a key leadership role in setting up, implementing, and overseeing project control systems across all phases of engineering and construction projects. This position operates at both the corporate and project levels, ensuring that robust systems are in place for planning, cost control, scheduling, risk management, reporting, and change management. The Project Controls Manager is also responsible for developing internal standards and tools, managing and mentoring the Project Controls department, and providing training to project teams. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in project controls systems, especially Omega 365, and the ability to support project execution while driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Project Controls System Implementation & Oversight
- Lead the setup and configuration of project controls systems and tools for major capital projects, primarily using Omega 365.
- Ensure integration between cost control, scheduling, procurement tracking, and reporting functions within the system.
- Monitor and audit project performance to ensure consistency with project execution plans and control baselines.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure data integrity and timely reporting of progress, cost, and schedule metrics.
Corporate Development & Standards
- Develop and maintain corporate project controls procedures, templates, and standards to support consistent project execution.
- Identify and implement improvements to internal systems and tools to enhance accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of digital workflows and dashboards for executive reporting and portfolio oversight.
- Support pre-project planning activities and proposal development with accurate estimating and scheduling tools.
Team Leadership & Training
- Manage a team of cost controllers, schedulers, and project controls specialists, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
- Coordinate staffing of project controls roles for active projects in collaboration with project leadership.
- Deliver training and support to project teams in the use of Omega 365 and project controls best practices.
- Build internal capacity by developing knowledge resources and competency frameworks within the project services department.
Reporting, Forecasting & Change Management
- Develop and maintain cost and schedule forecasts and dashboards at both the project and portfolio level.
- Lead monthly cost and schedule reporting, including progress curves, cash flow projections, and variance analysis.
- Support the change management process, ensuring that changes are captured, assessed, and incorporated into project baselines.
- Ensure alignment of reporting formats and KPIs across projects for executive and client reporting.
Compensation
This is an hourly position with eligibility for annual performance bonuses, and company benefits. Travel allowances or per diems are provided for project-based assignments outside of the home office location.
Work Schedule & Location
This role is primarily based in the corporate office, with regular travel to project sites and client offices. Office hours are typically Monday through Friday, with flexibility required during critical project phases.
Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project controls roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Expertise in Omega 365 project controls modules (or comparable platforms) is required.
- Strong knowledge of cost control, scheduling, earned value management, forecasting, and change control.
- Familiarity with major project delivery models (EPCM, DBM, EPC) and the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and project scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
