The Engineering Lead will manage the progression of the detailed design work for the Mount Nansen Remediation Project. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of a significant mine reclamation initiative that is critically important to federal, territorial, and First Nation governments, as well as other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering and project management within the mining, construction, and/or environmental remediation sectors, coupled with a proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to a project that prioritizes sustainability, collaboration, and community partnership.

The work schedule will include a mix of standard 40-hour office work weeks, with site visits and stakeholder meetings in various locations.

  • Work closely with engineering consultants to advance engineering design.
  • Lead coordination and review meetings with engineering team.
  • Review constructability of designs.
  • Prepare / update material balances.
  • Develop construction schedule/sequences (monthly, daily, weekly plans).
  • Plan field programs which support engineering (i.e. drilling, constructability field trials).
  • Determine optimal stockpile use and inventory.
  • Conduct labour and equipment planning.
  • Prepare mining equipment specifications and assist with mining equipment procurement.
  • Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines and project partners.
  • Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.
  • Prepare mining CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates.
  • Design mine infrastructures, ventilation systems, backfill systems and mining services.
  • Integrate engineering details into project permitting deliverables.

Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in an applicable engineering discipline (environmental, mining, civil).
  • Registered as a P. Eng. in Yukon Territory, or other Province or Territory with ability to register as a P.Eng. in Yukon.
  • 7+ years of experience in reclamation, civil engineering, or mine engineering.
  • Experience working with governments (territorial, federal and/or First Nation)
  • Familiar with permitting for reclamation projects is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional technical writing and presentation abilities using Microsoft Office software.
  • Working experience in AutoCAD and/or resource software such as Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight, Leapfrog or others.
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset (English/French/Spanish).
  • Able to travel across Canada and internationally.

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be based on the experience of the applicant.
  • Competitive compensation is based on actual hours of work performed (hourly as opposed to salary).
  • Travel time to/from a project site is paid from point of hire up to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day.
  • Travel costs to/from a project site are reimbursed.
  • Time off will be accommodated with appropriate advanced notice to the MNRP Project Manager.
  • Vacation starts at two weeks per years (and included in hourly compensation). Additional un-paid time off is available based on project workload.
  • A Health Savings Account is provided.

Work Schedule:

  • Office work is generally performed at 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Office work is capped at 10 hours per day.
  • On-site work is capped at 12 hours per day.
  • On-site rotational work may be required but is not considered to be typical.
