Job Description:

The Underground Mine Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of underground infrastructure systems that support safe and efficient mining operations. This includes ventilation, dewatering, power distribution, communications, and fixed installations such as refuge stations and workshops. The role will work closely with underground operations, construction teams, and external consultants to ensure infrastructure readiness from development through production.

Responsibilities
Design & Engineering:
- Develop engineering designs and layouts for underground infrastructure systems.
- Coordinate sizing, alignment, and installation plans for ventilation, pumping systems, electrical services, and water management.
- Ensure alignment of infrastructure designs with mine plans and ground conditions.

Project Support:
- Support procurement and construction teams during installation and commissioning of underground infrastructure components.
- Review vendor documents, technical submittals, and installation drawings for compliance with specifications.

Interface Management:
- Collaborate with mining, geotechnical, electrical, and surface infrastructure teams to ensure integrated planning and execution.
- Address interface challenges between mobile equipment access and infrastructure installations.

Standards & Safety:
- Ensure that designs comply with applicable mining regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
- Participate in underground inspections to validate installation quality and adherence to design.

Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare design reports, drawings, and material specifications for infrastructure packages.
- Maintain documentation to support operational readiness and handover to operations teams.

Compensation

Qualifications / Experience / Education Requirements

- Degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering.

- 7–10 years of experience in underground mine infrastructure design and implementation.

- Experience with mining environments and infrastructure system integration.

- Proficiency in 3D mine planning or design software.

- Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng or equivalent).
