About the Role
JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Mine Engineer / Mine Technician to support the safe and effective execution of underground mining operations through short‑range planning, production coordination, and operational support. This role works closely with underground operations, planning, and technical services teams to ensure production activities are aligned with approved mine plans, safety requirements, and operational priorities.The Mine Engineer / Mine Technician plays a key role in translating short‑range plans into executable work, supporting field leadership during execution, monitoring production performance, and identifying opportunities to improve planning accuracy and operational efficiency. This position contributes directly to safe, consistent, and well‑coordinated underground production.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily and short‑range underground shift plans in collaboration with underground supervisors and planning teams
- Coordinate underground production activities to ensure alignment with workforce availability, equipment readiness, and approved mine plans
- Support short‑interval control practices by tracking production progress and identifying deviations from plan
- Utilize mine planning, fleet management, location awareness, and production reporting systems to support operational decision‑making
- Provide technical and operational support to underground supervisors during plan execution
- Monitor production performance, equipment utilization, and operational constraints using shift‑based and real‑time data
- Communicate plan changes, constraints, and priorities across operations, maintenance, and technical services teams
- Participate in daily operational coordination discussions to align execution priorities and mine‑wide objectives
- Support dispatch and operational control personnel with planning guidance, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Work closely with mine engineering and rehabilitation teams to integrate rehabilitation activities into daily and weekly plans
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy, operational efficiency, and use of digital tools

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of underground mining experience
- Experience in a lead hand, senior operator, technician, or supervisory role is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, production cycles, mobile equipment, and safety requirements
- Technical diploma, engineering degree, or equivalent operational experience in mining or a related discipline
- Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, underground planning and operational software systems
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
