Job Description:
The Civil Construction Manager is a senior project position responsible for overseeing and directing large-scale heavy-civil and mining construction projects . This role entails construction management, including planning, execution, contractor oversight, schedule adherence, budget management, and coordination with engineering, procurement, and project controls. The Construction Manager ensures that safety, quality, and productivity standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead all construction-related activities on major mining projects from pre-construction through commissioning.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for construction execution on behalf of the project team.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability among all site personnel and contractors.
Project Execution
- Manage daily construction operations to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
- Ensure the construction plan aligns with project engineering and procurement schedules.
- Implement construction methodologies that optimize productivity and reduce cost and risk.
Contractor & Team Coordination
- Oversee contractor mobilization, site access, and compliance with contract scope and performance.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, procurement, HSE, and quality assurance.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance oversight to superintendents and construction teams.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce adherence to all project safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor work quality to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specs, and codes.
- Lead construction risk assessments and corrective action planning.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide regular updates to the Project Director and client stakeholders.
- Support change management processes, claims analysis, and cost control measures.
- Lead or participate in construction progress meetings and interface with regulatory authorities as needed.
Compensation
- Competitive compensation is based on actual hours of work performed
Work Schedule
- On-site work is capped at 12 hours per day;
- On-site rotational work is required - 4-6 week rotations.
- Travel time to/from a project site are paid from point of hire to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day;
- Travel costs to/from a project site are reimbursed;
- Time off will be accommodated with appropriate advanced notice to JDS Project Sponsor; and
- Vacation starts at two weeks per year and is included in hourly compensation. Additional un-paid time off is available based on project workload.
Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements
- 10 years of experience in engineering or construction management;
- Engineering or technical degree (P.Eng. is preferred);
- Valid driver's license;
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, Project is required; and
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Omega 365, other mining software is an advantage.

- Must have strong English written and verbal communication skills. Additional languages may be an asset, especially Greek.
