The QA/QC Superintendent is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and execution of quality assurance and quality control programs across mining and industrial construction projects. This role ensures all construction activities meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards, while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Responsibilities

The QA/QC Superintendent will be responsible for the following functions:

Quality Leadership:

  • Lead the implementation and execution of the project QA/QC program
  • Establish and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality procedures
  • Drive a culture of quality and right-first-time execution across all crews

Field Oversight:

  • Provide daily direction to QA/QC inspectors and field quality personnel
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Coordinate and witness inspections, testing, and turnover activities

Inspection & Verification:

  • Ensure all inspections and testing are completed as per project requirements
  • Review and approve field inspection reports and test results
  • Interface with third-party inspectors and testing agencies

Deficiencies & NCR Management:

  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), deficiencies, and punch list items
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Track and drive closure of quality issues in a timely manner

Documentation & Turnover:

  • Oversee completion of quality records, turnover packages, and as-built documentation
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule
  • Support project closeout and handover requirements

Contractor Management:

  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with QA/QC requirements
  • Review and approve subcontractor quality plans and documentation
  • Conduct audits and field reviews of subcontractor work

Coordination:

  • Work closely with construction, engineering, and commissioning teams
  • Resolve quality and technical issues in the field
  • Act as the primary interface for client quality representatives

Safety:

  • Ensure all QA/QC activities are executed in compliance with site safety standards
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and audits
  • Promote a safety-first mindset within the quality team

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of QA/QC experience in mining, heavy civil, or industrial construction
  • 5+ years in a lead or superintendent-level quality role
  • Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC processes
  • Experience across civil, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical scopes
  • Familiar with applicable codes and standards (CSA, ASTM, ISO)
  • Experience with inspection planning, testing, and turnover documentation
  • Strong understanding of field execution and construction sequencing
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • CSTS and WHMIS certifications preferred
  • Relevant certifications (CWB, NACE, ASQ) considered an asset

Work Schedule & Location

  • 12-hour workdays typical
  • Site-based rotational schedule
  • Travel to and from site paid (up to 8 hours per travel day)
