JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Designer / Draftsperson to support the design and development of mining and civil infrastructure projects across our operations. This role will support engineering and construction teams by producing high-quality drawings and models for mine sites, heavy civil infrastructure, and earthworks projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, surveyors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate and constructible designs that support safe and efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for civil and mining infrastructure projects
  • Develop site grading, earthworks, road designs, drainage systems, and mine support infrastructure layouts
  • Produce plans, profiles, cross sections, and construction details
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, surveyors, and project teams to ensure accuracy and quality of deliverables
  • Revise and update drawings based on engineering markups, field conditions, and client feedback
  • Maintain drafting standards, drawing controls, and document management procedures
  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines for integrated project delivery
  • Support construction teams with as-built drawings and site revisions as required
  • Participate in design reviews and quality assurance processes

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design Technology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of civil drafting or design experience, preferably in mining, EPCM, or heavy industrial environments
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including surface modeling and grading
  • Experience with earthworks design and quantity calculations
  • Strong understanding of civil design standards, construction drawings, and drafting best practices
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, and technical specifications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working on mining or heavy civil construction projects
  • Familiarity with mining and design software such as MineSight, Deswik, or Navisworks
