About the Role
JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to support mining and industrial projects. This is a site-based FIFO role responsible for the field execution and oversight of all mechanical construction activities, including contractor supervision, quality assurance, safety compliance, and coordination with project and engineering teams to meet schedule and budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Field Supervision
- Lead and supervise mechanical subcontractors during installation of equipment, pumps, tanks, and process infrastructure
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (ASME, CSA, API)
- Monitor progress and ensure schedule milestones are met without compromising safety or quality
- Oversee installation of mine process systems including pump stations, slurry and water systems, flotation circuits, thickeners, and grinding mills
Quality & Compliance
- Conduct inspections and testing including alignment, torqueing, and installation verification
- Verify installation quality and adherence to scope
- Ensure QA/QC documentation and turnover packages are completed and submitted
Safety Leadership
- Enforce site safety policies and participate in audits, toolbox talks, and investigations
- Identify and mitigate field hazards related to lifting, rigging, pressure systems, and stored energy
- Promote a strong safety culture across all crews
Coordination
- Interface with superintendents, construction managers, and engineering teams to resolve field issues
- Support planning, material tracking, and commissioning activities
- Communicate progress updates and highlight risks impacting execution

Compensation
- Competitive hourly rate
Qualifications
- 15+ years of mechanical construction experience, including 3+ years in a superintendent or leadership role
- Journeyperson Pipefitter, Millwright, or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of industrial and mining mechanical systems and applicable codes (ASME B31.3, CSA, API)
- Experience supervising contractors and coordinating field execution
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, GA drawings, and vendor data
- Experience with crushing, grinding, flotation, or process plant systems is an asset
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and mechanical completion requirements
- Experience with field inspections and commissioning support
- Knowledge of construction sequencing and multidisciplinary coordination
