The Trading Business is the platform's commercial and trading arm, responsible for moving physical commodities from mine and port to global markets - making world-class freight and logistics capability central to the platform's competitiveness and its sustainability agenda.
They are looking for a Superintendent Camp & Administration who is responsible for the safe,
efficient and cost-effective operational control and leadership of Gabon's Camp Administration
functions aligned to the business strategy, budget and needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance of the Camp & Administration functions ensuring overall high-quality safe execution of tasks and services.
- Minkébé camp accommodation, offices and infrastructure fit for purpose and in a good state of repair.
- Company guesthouses.
- Safe, reliable and optimized travel services to and from site.
- Effective travel and accommodation booking and reservation services for local and international travel
- Cost effective camp, guest house and catering operations that meet company expectations in terms of service quality, cleanliness and hygiene.
- Quality standards and KPIs across all areas of accountability and embed a philosophy of customer care and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring that facilities and services are optimized to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and meet health, safety and environmental compliance targets, legal and permitting commitments.
Health, Safety, Security, Community & Environment:
- Instill within areas of responsibility a proactive safety and health culture aligned to the company vision of zero fatalities and life altering injuries.
- Demonstrate effective health, safety and environmental management across areas of responsibility through PPE compliance, high standards of housekeeping, effective critical controls and elimination of hazards.
- Report promptly all injuries and spills, actual or high potential safety and environmental incidents within area of responsibility and ensure that corrective actions are identified, completed on time and verified.
- Abide by company health, safety, security, community and environmental policies, standards, procedures and practices to deliver and sustain zero harm and mitigate potential impacts.
- Work with Security to ensure appropriate loss prevention controls and practices are in place across areas of accountability to deliver security of people, assets, property, information and systems.
- Comply with all relevant national regulations and laws, company policy, procedures and standards.

Governance & Risk:
- Ensure that high standards of ethical business conduct are always practiced and enforced.
- All commercial activities are undertaken in compliance with company standards and procedures in
- alignment with the prevailing legislative, regulatory and permitting standards. That non-compliances are promptly communicated to site leadership.
- Identify and assess potential and actual risks impacting all activities. Define and implement controls to eliminate or mitigate. Maintain area specific risk registers with controls and mitigations recorded.
- Manage change through the application of appropriate assessment and quantification process.
Budget, Planning & Costs:
- In collaboration with departmental leadership, set and own the section plan, budget and forecasts, monitor self and team achievement against the plan and budget.
- Monitor and track performance against budget, forecast and plan. Promptly addresses variances to deliver section commitments, goals and objectives.
- Define, communicate and monitor quality standards and embed a philosophy of continuous improvement.
- Rigorously reviewing invoices and other charges, including taxes and duties, before receipting for payment.
- Deliver effective management of costs and work quality within all areas of responsibility. Ensure cost and performance targets are met; work quality and output are to the expected standards and schedule.
Minkébé Camps:
- Accommodation demands planning for rostering, activity expansion, project work and contractors.
- Effective accommodation booking and reservation system and room allocation management.
- Provision of good quality accommodation and camp services including laundry, sports and social facilities.
- Operate the camps considerate of occupant needs ensuring consistent good quality food, housekeeping and laundry services.
- Implement coherent camp maintenance, housekeeping, health and hygiene plans that are managed through effective KPIs to ensure an acceptable standard of occupant comfort. Monitor KPI delivery through regular inspections; promptly address negative variances.
- Set and enforce camp accommodation and travel rules appropriate to day shift / night shift operations and location.
- Dedicated accommodation, ablutions and laundry facilities considerate of female employee needs.
- Manage availability of visitor accommodation and stock of visitor PPE.
Guesthouses:
- Ensure effective booking and reservation systems and processes are in place.
- Provide and maintain good quality accommodation and meals at the company guesthouses.
- Ensure guesthouses are well maintained, safe, clean and hygienic.
- When guesthouse accommodation is not available, ensures that only company approved accommodation is booked in compliance with the company Travel and Accommodation standards.
Catering:
- Ensure that camps and guest houses maintain high standards of food storage, preparation, kitchen and messing in compliance with health and hygiene expectations. Set clear KPIs and undertake periodic review of performance against those KPIs; promptly address non-conformances.
- Implement and maintain food safety and hygiene standard with supporting controls, checks and KPIs.
- Provide varied healthy meal plans for the national and expatriate messes.
- Recognize and respect cultural sensitivities in terms of food purchases, storage, preparation and menus.
- Ensure national and expatriate employees have access to culturally appropriate meals.
- Where practical, define and implement nutrition plans and menus that support fatigue management.
- Standardize weekly menu plans across the camps to ensure meal variety at consistent quality across the national and expatriate messes.
- Coordinate with Procurement the purchasing, transport, storage and stock control of perishable goods including food supplies.
- Define and implement strategies to minimize food waste.
Site Facilities Administration:
- Lead the camp administration and camp maintenance sections to ensure that the camps, guesthouses and related infrastructure are maintained in good safe condition and that the grounds are well looked after.
- Maintain accommodation, offices and facilities in good and weatherproof condition.
- Instill a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness across offices and facilities with effective pest and vermin control strategies and practices in place.
- Maintain water supply, purification and reticulation, ablutions, sewage treatment, grey water discharge and grease traps in compliance with legislation, company HSE standards and environmental commitments.
- Ensure all domestic and food waste is disposed of in an environmentally approved manner. Promptly report environmental incidents and assist as directed in all clean-up and containment activities.
Travel & Hospitality:
- Deliver safe, reliable and fit for purpose surface and air transport solutions for local and international travel.
- Ensure that safety briefings are provided for all modes of travel and that safety systems, within company's control or influence, are in place and in good service.
- Verify that drivers, vehicle operators and road transport service providers comply with the appropriate fatigue management practices.
- Oversee the booking of international travel and accommodation for employees on rotation or business as per the company's travel and accommodation standards.
- Manage visitor and consultant travel arrangements and accommodation including flights, hotel bookings, guesthouse and site accommodation.
- Ensure a meet-and-greet service is available at the airport for corporate visitors and consultants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in catering and / or hospitality or related field
- Minimum of 10 years in a supervisory or leadership role in the catering or hospitality industry
- 5 years working in remote locations managing camp and travel.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
- French and English communication skills, written and spoken are advantageous.
- Familiar with and comfortable with working at remote locations and the challenges this brings.
