Our client is a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company based in Africa. They are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with substantial experience in the pharmaceutical industry to oversee financial strategy and operations in the Benin and Togo markets.

This role is to be based in Mumbai and requires strong expertise in financial planning, risk management, compliance, and growth strategy, specifically for pharmaceutical operations in African markets.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability in Benin & Togo.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to optimize costs and revenue streams.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations.

Operational & Risk Management

  • Oversee financial operations, tax planning, and treasury functions across African entities.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, foreign exchange challenges, and regulatory hurdles.
  • Implement cost-control measures while ensuring operational efficiency.

Investment & Business Expansion

  • Support the CEO in M&A, joint ventures, and new market expansions.
  • Work closely with investors, banks, and financial institutions for fundraising and capital structuring.
  • Drive automation and digital transformation in financial operations.

Stakeholder & Compliance Management

  • Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and regulatory bodies for compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS, GAAP, and local tax laws in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.

Key Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in finance, with expertise in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Prior experience managing financial operations in Africa is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax laws, and compliance in emerging markets.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, M&A, and investment strategies.
  • Expertise in foreign exchange, risk management, and cost optimization.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
