Our client is a diversified global organization offering end-to-end solutions and operating across various sectors including education, agriculture, trading, engineering procurement and construction (EPC), energy, and mining. The group focuses on improving essential infrastructure in developing countries, by designing and managing projects such as roads, bridges, power plants, and water treatment facilities, actively engaging in renewable energy initiatives, and investing in solar power projects and wind energy farms.

They are looking to hire a results-oriented professional with expertise in project execution, planning, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of building construction (particularly institutional buildings), as well as infrastructure projects for institutional, commercial, and hospital buildings, and mining infrastructure projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage project delivery to the customer within contractual timelines.
  • Communicate with senior client management and conduct periodic reviews on all aspects of the project.
  • Obtain approvals and liaise with various government departments and representatives regarding design, quality, billing, completion certificates, and other project-related matters.
  • Examine plans, designs, and materials for conformity with specifications, working closely with the project management team to implement agreed project plans and company objectives.
  • Oversee the estimation of material quantities and deviation statements according to site conditions, coordinating project progress through regular meetings.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and commissioning engineers concerning the design, installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned work.
  • Ensure consultant deliverables are aligned with the clients schedule and project scope.
  • Produce project reports at agreed intervals or whenever substantive action is required regarding scope and contractual obligations.
  • Oversee project planning, execution, monitoring, and control.
  • Handle principal and vendor management, including vendor evaluation, quality control, negotiation, and purchase order finalization.
  • Manage billing for materials delivered to the site according to purchase orders.
  • Ensure vendor adherence to customer requirements and meet timelines.
  • Conduct technical design reviews with the technical team and design consultants.
  • Design and implement tools or trackers for effective project transaction tracking.
  • Plan daily activities, allocate tasks, manage risks, and ensure process adherence.
  • Oversee project communication, documentation, and coordination with technical teams and consultants to ensure timely project closure within the agreed scope.

Key Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong understanding of working on government/public sector projects with expertise in stakeholder management.
  • A graduate degree (B-Tech/BE) in Civil Engineering is mandatory. Post-graduate qualifications in a related field are preferred.
  • Significant experience working on government projects in sectors such as education, healthcare, and mining, ideally in Africa.
  • 20+ years of overall experience with reputable organizations.
  • Proficient in 3D Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems commonly used in commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use complexes.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary BIM coordination environments is preferred.
