About the job Head of Business Development
Our client is a diversified global organization offering end-to-end solutions and operating across various sectors including education, agriculture, trading, engineering procurement and construction (EPC), energy, and mining. The group focuses on improving essential infrastructure in developing countries, by designing and managing projects such as roads, bridges, power plants, and water treatment facilities, actively engaging in renewable energy initiatives, and investing in solar power projects and wind energy farms.
They are looking to add a results-oriented leader to their growing team within the Business Development department and reporting directly to the Chairman. The job holder must have experience in EPC+F projects and exposure to the target geographies. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have relevant experience in institutional and infrastructure projects with a successful track record of taking a project from the lead stage to fruition.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and meet key decision-makers among various government clients in Africa and target countries, generating interest in the company's offerings in social infrastructure projects on an EPC+F basis (negotiated).
- Research clients' and countries' requirements and purchasing capabilities, sharing insights with the Head Office for possible solutions, and offering value propositions to clients to secure direct awards with funding options.
- Generate and create project/business opportunities and RFPs through customer contact to meet the company's business plans and growth strategies.
- Drive all processes and procedures from inquiry/RFP through coordination to closing the deal.
- Lead the development and preparation of RFPs, pre-qualifications, and formal presentations.
- Take overall responsibility for growing the companys reputation and targeted business volume in the country.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- A strong understanding of the nuances of working on government/public sector projects and proficiency in stakeholder management.
- Any degree is acceptable; civil engineering degrees with an MBA from reputed institutions are preferred.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Highly networked at the ministerial and government level in African countries and emerging economies in the CIS.
- Knowledge of negotiated contracts awarded directly/single-source contracts is highly preferred.
- 20+ years of total experience, with at least 12 years of experience dealing with government clients in the region to be posted in Africa, specifically for the development of EPC business or other solutions.
