About the job Head - Alumina Refinery Project
Our Client is a bauxite resource exploration and development company focused on expediting a key project in central Cameroon. The project is a robust, long-life, tier-1 bauxite asset with potential to produce some of the highest-grade bauxite in the world. The project is supported by a Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS), which was completed in 2022 and underpinned over 1 billion tonnes of bauxite resources. The Company is expediting the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) on the project. With the Mining Convention and Mining Licence in place, the Company is proceeding with the development plans to bring the project into operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead feasibility and other studies on setting up an alumina refinery in Cameroon.
- Engage, manage, and collaborate with consultants, contractors, design and engineering service providers, etc. to ensure timely of work packages.
- Provide strategic leadership in developing and delivering projects to approved budgets, scope, and timeframes.
- Work with mining operations team to develop short- and long-term production, quality, and other operational aspects.
- Work closely with the executive team to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
- Analysing, negotiating, and finalizing various contracts/agreements from both technical and commercial point of views.
- Lead project planning, construction and implementation, and thereafter lead alumina refinery operations to successfully deliver company goals and targets.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and regulatory bodies.
Experience: 20+ years of experience, with at least 10 years in a senior management role, in bauxite and alumina sector. The candidates with a strong and proven track record in setting up and leading alumina refinery operations will be preferred.
Education: Bachelors/Masters in Chemical/Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering. The candidates with MBA will be preferred.
