Our client, a leading developer/operator in the renewable energy sector, specializing in solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is looking to add a senior scada engineer. As the senior engineer, you will be the primary technical lead for designing, developing, and maintaining SCADA and EPMS systems based on the Inductive Automation Ignition platform. This role offers the opportunity to drive technical strategy ensuring maximum uptime and data visibility from field devices to enterprise systems.

Responsibilities include but not limited:

• SCADA Design & Maintenance: Architect, develop, and maintain Ignition-based SCADA systems (Vision & Perspective modules) for utility-scale solar and BESS sites.
• HMI/UI Development: Create intuitive operator HMI screens, dashboards, and alarming matrices to improve operational efficiency.
• PLC/RTU Integration: Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider), RTUs (SEL RTAC), and data loggers, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Data Integration: Establish data connections with internal/external applications using OPC-UA, MQTT Sparkplug B, and SQL database integration.
• Scripting & Troubleshooting: Write custom Python scripts to handle complex business rules, data anomalies, and communication failures.
• Commissioning Support: Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) to ensure new projects meet operational standards.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of SCADA automation design and support experience, preferably within the renewable energy (solar, wind, BESS) industry.
• Ignition Expertise: Proficiency in developing with Inductive Automation Ignition (Core or Gold Certification preferred).
• Programming: Strong experience with Python scripting (Jython) and SQL databases (PostgreSQL/SQL Server).
• Protocols: In-depth knowledge of Modbus TCP, DNP3, and OPC-UA protocols.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to read electrical one-line diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Sepasoft modules.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP cyber security standards.
• Knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure for IoT data ingestion.
