About the job Machine Operator
Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, running, adjusting, cleaning and monitoring their assigned machine, whether it be Alloyd, HFFS, VFFS or VW. To be a successful packaging machine operator, one needs to have technical skills to operate and troubleshoot machinery, attention to detail for quality control, and a strong focus on safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Adjust machine components, machine tension, and pressure according to the size or processing angle of the product.
- Carry out production, inspection, packaging, and machine operation duties.
- Set up machinery and ensure all materials are readily available.
- Effectively monitor production equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all safety features on the packaging machinery are in place and functioning correctly to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
- Read, understand, and follow company PPEs.
- Maintain an organized and clean workstation.
- Report any safety hazards observed (Such as oil or water leaks, slip/trip hazards).
- Must always follow all physical and food safety guidelines.
- Must be willing to complete different tasks or be assigned to different machines if asked and able to.
Required Skills
- At least 1 year of previous experience operating manufacturing machinery
- Mechanical knowledge/aptitude required
- Team oriented
- Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds and stand for an 8-hour work shift
- Commitment to quality, safety, and communication
- Understanding of what the machine is for, how it works, and best practices
- Able to wear required safety gear when necessary to operate machinery
- Effective communication skills
- Must always be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
