Vehicle Mechanic

Contract to start ASAP until 30-10-26 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To undertake and ensure that servicing, maintenance and repairs of all types of motor vehicles, mechanical handling equipment, plant and Ad Hoc equipment repairs are undertaken in a safe, effective and efficient manner

To undertake MOT testing to all NBBC vehicles and ensure full compliance with DVSA requirements and to assist the AEDM with internal audits of transport systems relating to the Vehicle Inspectorate.

To ensure all relevant update training for MOT testers is planned and completed successfully.

Responsibilities:

To examine, inspect and report thoroughly the condition, road worthiness or safety of any vehicle or equipment including functional testing and the application of diagnostic techniques.

To service, maintain, or repair vehicles, equipment/plant or components utilizing the necessary tools, equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner.

To undertake alterations / modifications to vehicles including welding and fabrication works.

To interoperate and implement technical service data and statutory maintenance standards to ensure compliance with road traffic legislation requirements.

The recovery of broken down or immobilized vehicles, plant or equipment using internal or external resources as appropriate.

Liaise with the transport technical officer to order parts and equipment necessary to undertake vehicle repairs, maintenance and servicing.

To undertake vehicle MOT testing, under the guidance of the AEDM to all NBBC vehicles as required and private use vehicles as requested.

To ensure the accurate input of all data into transport related systems in conjunction with DVSA requirements.

To assist with internal audits of users to ensure full compliance with DVSA requirements.

To undertake all update MOT tester training as required by the DVSA.
