Senior Telephony System Engineer & Technical Lead

Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days on-site per week)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Telephony System Engineer & Technical Lead to lead the design, implementation, modernization, and operational management of enterprise IP telephony infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for telephony transformation projects while ensuring the stability, security, and availability of critical communication services.

Key Responsibilities

Project Responsibilities

• Design and define enterprise telephony infrastructure solutions.
• Collaborate with infrastructure architects, system engineers, security teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Lead the modernization and evolution of IP telephony platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.
• Serve as the technical authority for telephony-related projects and solution design.

Operational Responsibilities

• Maintain the performance, reliability, and availability of telephony services.
• Support technical teams during incident resolution and root cause analysis.
• Drive problem management initiatives to eliminate recurring issues.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements across the telephony environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 7 years of experience with IP Telephony solutions.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Solution Designer.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Lead.
• Recent hands-on involvement (within the last 2 years) in IP Telephony projects.
• Strong experience with:
  • SIP protocols
  • Networking (Routing & Switching)
  • Firewall management
  • Telephony infrastructure and platforms
• Demonstrated experience coordinating technical teams within development or infrastructure projects.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Fluent in French or Dutch, with a good passive understanding of the other language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the Utilities or Energy sector.
• Experience producing technical solution designs.
• Knowledge of coding, testing, and debugging.
• Experience with:
  • Check Point Firewalls
  • Mitel / MiCollab
  • Solidus
  • Storavox voice recording solutions

Work Environment

• Hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days on-site in Brussels.
