Position: Senior Functional Analyst

Location: Brussels (Hybrid: 2 days on-site, 3 days remote per week)

Contract Duration: Initial contract through December 31, 2026 (Long-term mission with strong extension potential)

Working Hours: Full-time (39 hours/week / 7h48 per day)

Position Overview

As part of a major business transformation program, we are seeking a Senior Functional Analyst to join a department of approximately 90 professionals. In this role, you will be instrumental in the handover, refactoring, and greenfield development of core business applications.

You will own all phases of functional design within an Agile environment, bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical execution teams to translate complex requirements into robust software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with business users, project managers, technical leads, and external partners.
  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Conduct detailed identification, analysis, and validation of existing business processes (as-is) and new functional/non-functional requirements (to-be).
  • Functional Design: Create comprehensive functional analyses, system mappings, user flows, and application designs.
  • Technical Collaboration: Partner with developers and architects to validate functional feasibility and support the translation of design models into technical specifications.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Oversee the lifecycle of new features and applications, ensuring delivery aligns with business needs and project timelines.
  • Agile Integration: Refine user stories, define acceptance criteria, and work closely with cross-functional teams under the guidance of Project Managers/Coordinators.
  • Risk & Reporting: Proactively report status updates, help facilitate decision-making, and manage/escalate project risks.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and functional leadership to junior team members.

  • Functional analysis documentation and Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)
  • Data models, process diagrams (BPMN), and system interaction mappings
  • Well-defined User Stories with acceptance criteria
  • Test plans and test case specifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Functional & Professional Expertise

  • Functional & Business Analysis: Proven track record in analyzing and abstracting complex domain logic quickly.
  • Agile Frameworks: Solid experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Analysis Methodologies & Tools: Strong command of UML and BPMN modeling, along with experience utilizing Jira and Confluence.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Demonstrated ability in test analysis, test design, and quality validation.
  • Data & Interfaces: Proficiency with user journeys, story writing, and relational concepts (basic SQL).

Technical Environment Literacy

  • While this is a non-coding role, you must fluently speak the technical language required to analyze APIs, data mappings, business models, batch processing, and services.
  • Familiarity with enterprise software stack architectures (Java/J2EE ecosystem, Oracle, Hibernate, REST/SOAP APIs, Git, Maven, Selenium) is highly desirable.

Language Requirements

  • French or Dutch: Active fluency (speaking, reading, and technical writing).
  • English: Professional working proficiency for technical documentation.
  • A working knowledge of both Belgian national languages (French/Dutch) is a strong plus.
