About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a team responsible for a large-scale digital identity and access management platform within the education sector.

This platform provides secure and user-friendly access to digital learning resources through a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution, enabling students and educational institutions to seamlessly access multiple applications through a single authentication process.

As a Senior Developer, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical platform components while helping shape the future of digital education infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop and optimize database structures and queries using PostgreSQL.
• Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Ensure code quality through testing, debugging, and continuous improvement practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Support authentication and access management initiatives, including Single Sign-On integrations.
• Coach and mentor team members while contributing to a collaborative development culture.
• Assist in the evolution of data platform capabilities and related services.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience with Java development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Spring Boot.
• Minimum 5 years of experience building and maintaining REST APIs.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Minimum 5 years of experience using Jenkins for CI/CD.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with Atlassian tools (Jira & Confluence).
• Experience developing applications within Agile environments.
• Fluent Dutch language skills (CEFR C2).
• Strong problem-solving, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the education sector or EdTech environments.
• Experience leading development teams and mentoring developers.
• Knowledge of JSON and API integrations.
• Experience with technical documentation and knowledge management.
• Experience contributing to the creation or evolution of data platforms.
• Experience implementing or supporting Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and best practices.
