Database Administration:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and manage patches/updates.
  • Manage and monitor Oracle database environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Perform regular database backups, restore operations, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Assist with capacity planning and performance tuning, ensuring system efficiency.
  • Support database security, including user management, access controls, and audits.
  • Implement and monitor database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions (RAC, Data Guard).

Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:

  • Perform root-cause analysis for database issues and provide solutions.
  • Handle incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues related to SQL performance, connection failures, and database crashes.
  • Work closely with development and application teams to resolve issues related to application-database integration.

Database Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other monitoring tools to oversee database health and performance.
  • Analyze database logs and performance metrics to identify areas of improvement.
  • Optimize queries and indexing for improved database performance.
  • Implement and monitor database maintenance tasks like reorg, stats gathering, etc.

Support & Maintenance:

  • Provide 24x7 support on call as part of the support rotation for critical systems and databases.
  • Provide technical support during database outages or failures and participate in post-mortem reviews.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Database 12c, 18c, 19c, and/or 21c.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and RMAN.
  • Expertise in SQL query optimization and PL/SQL programming.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other database monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Oracle AWR, ADDM, and ASH reports for performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery methodologies.
  • Experience with shell scripting or automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) is a plus.
