About the job Logistics Controller

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Planning, execution and management of commercial vehicle deliveries and drivers in line with operational principles and performance standards
  • Managing the driver availability to ensure maximum efficiencies
  • Managing the applicable operational processes and disciplines
  • Managing the Vehicle Delivery Tracking Systems clerical and administration functions
  • Cross Border Planning
  • Understand, manage and control the operational cost elements to maximize efficiencies and profitability in line with the performance expectations
  • Liaising with (Account Executive, National Manpower & Fleet Controller) to ensure that all queries are effectively and efficiently resolved.
  • Identify logistical challenges and implement solutions
  • Conduct data analysis fuel consumption
  • Ad hoc tasks and research projects
  • Provide feedback to management regarding all operational matters.
  • Maintaining effective communication with all Operations staff in order to ensure that all are in the loop regarding operational matters.
  • Utilizing Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) in such a manner that all work is performed and presented in an accurate and uniform manner
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships
  • Data Capturing
  • Adhere to company Policies and Procedures
  • Pilot driver duties as and when required including weekends and or public holidays.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Extensive experience in logistics and/or project management
  • Degree / Diploma in logistics or relevant tertiary education would be a definite
    advantage
  • Management and leadership abilities
  • Organised and comfortable with data analysis
  • Very good geographical knowledge of RSA
  • Fully conversant in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Fully conversant in cross border procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and document quality processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to fluently communicate in Zulu and/or isiXhosa would be advantageous
  • Ability to create and conduct verbal, visual and written presentations
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Mechanical appreciation
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willing to work outside normal office hours and work out of town for short periods
  • Valid code 8 or code 10 drivers license with PrDP
