About the job Payroll Officer

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist team members with any and all payroll related queries
  • Assist the finance team with various project management support
  • Ensure that all pre-payroll administration and duties are prepared timeously and without error ahead of the payroll dates
  • Process payrolls for all entities as well as maintain payroll information accurately as required, ensuring all transactions are authorized, recorded and documented.
  • Ensure that salaries and amendments thereto are signed off by the appropriate manager(s).
  • Ensure that sign off (spreadsheet) balances to the payroll/pay register in accordance with prerequisites
  • Ensure that salaries are correctly and timeously paid, and that country specific funds, statutory and payroll related payments (external providers) are paid by the due dates
  • Prepare and maintain related payroll records
  • Preparing checks, reports, analysis, summaries, journals, statutory submissions and reconciliations timeously as required
  • Provide accounting support to Financial personnel
  • Provide support to line managers and employees with Payroll related concerns and queries.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Matric
  • Relevant Diploma or Degree would be highly advantageous.
  • 5 years experience within a payroll related position
  • 2 years experience with multiple country payroll would be highly advantageous
  • Experience with managing a payroll compliment of over 6000+ employees
  • Experience working with multiple subsidiaries
  • Experience working with online Payroll Systems
