Job Title: MEP BIM Coordinator

Reports to: BIM Manager

Job Description Summary

The MEP BIM Coordinator assists the BIM Manager as a project team member, interacting with project owners, architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to develop and analyze the virtual construction process in order to maximize construction efficiency, job cost savings, as well as enhance project documentation & delivery.

General Responsibilities

  • Understand all BIM related documentations & guidelines.
  • Assist BIM Manager in preparing BIM Guidelines for project specific requirements
  • Train of project personnel in the use of BIM tools & technologies.
  • Create and Maintain BIM Models for Project Specific Requirements
  • Develop schematic and detailed level models including modeling MEP systems, structure, architectural elements (as applicable)
  • Coordinate with BIM service providers and Subcontractors
  • Create new library components
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of MEP content libraries
  • Configures and administers common data environments ( ACC Collaboration)
  • Responsible as Model Administrator for assigned projects
  • Update as‐built and revised Building Information Model
  • Keep & update BIM revision logs
  • Share & update models reflecting changes and RFI responses.
  • Derive material quantities.
  • Develop the modeling schedule & Prepare 4D simulations
  • Define scopes of work, evaluate site problems and issue RFIs.
  • Site Inspection and liaising with trade contractors.
  • Update and distribute documents and models to subcontractors and maintain control logs (as applicable).
  • Prepare and maintain submittal logs and expediting log for BIM models.
  • Attend and /or manage model coordination meetings and document project preconstruction / BIM meetings (write minutes).
  • Coordinate models with internal and subcontractor detailers and modelers Record coordination sign offs.
  • Create shop drawings, as-built drawings.
  • Assist project team with construction coordination and scheduling.
  • Identify model constructability issues and propose solutions.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering, Mechanical background.
  • Minimum 5 years project experience, with duties as a lead coordinator Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional.
  • Experience in the implementation of COBie
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and BIM modeling.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an intermediate to advanced working knowledge and experience with the following software applications as well as typically used terminology, standards, and practices Autodesk Revit, Navisworks.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Ability to use judgment, problem‐solving ability, self‐starting and ability to prioritize based on relevant factors.
  • Experience in BIM Automation like python, Dynamo and C# preferred
  • Experience in IFC open building standards to facilitate interoperability and data exchange between different software applications
  • Experience with Scan to BIM processes, which involve converting point cloud data from laser scans into accurate BIM models, is an added advantage
  • Experience in working with Transco projects is preferred
