- Contributing to significant eCommerce growth through bespoke website revamps for prominent clients for the top luxury and fashion brands in China and APAC

About This Position
As a key part of the Digital Transformation departments, the Data Scientist will be improving customer personalization and omnichannel experience using data science principles to draw valuable insights and provide action plan to different stakeholders on a local and global level.
The A-player will have an in-depth understanding and experience in applying data analytics techniques such as data preparation, mining, machine learning, and statistical modeling. The position requires cross-function collaboration with different levels of business stakeholders to implement different outlined data strategies and solutions.
The role is based in our Shanghai offices and reports to Data Science Lead.
Responsibilities
1. Data Pipeline Management
- Ensure high data quality from the initial ingestion through the entire transformation process
- Develop and maintain end-to-end data processing pipelines
2. Data Mining & Statistical Modeling
- Developing and deploying data mining and statistical models to analyze data for various purposes
3. Algorithm Innovation
- Continuous innovation in creating and testing new algorithms tailored to unique business needs
- Localize global solution to adapt to specific characteristic of local context
4. Model Optimization in Production
- Ensure production models are relevant and optimized as business conditions evolve
- Monitoring, updating, and refining models to keep pace with changing business requirements
- Stay up to date with the latest model optimization solutions
5. Insight Extraction & Reporting
- Extracting actionable insights from complex datasets, translating and clear recommendations that influence strategic decisions
6. Collaboration & Testing Framework Development
- Collaborate with different stakeholders to design, implement and testing framework to provide impact assessment of different initiatives
- Ensures data-driven insights are applied in a structured and measurable way
7. Strategic Ad-Hoc Analysis
- Provide timely insights and recommendations based on immediate business needs or emerging questions, supporting agile decision-making
Requirements
1. Background and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantitive or Technical field (e.g Mathemetics, Operations Research, AI, Computer Science/Engineering)
- Passionate about data science and discovering actionable insights based on the ability to link data findings to business strategy and decision-making.
- Experience in applying data science principles on a global and local level, focusing in MarTech, CRM, e-commerce, supply chain, or product development domains
- Possess high quality standard and attention to details
- Strong communication skill and the ability to translate data understanding to action plan for non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to translate
- High proficiency in Chinese and English
2. Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Python, along with experience in key analytics libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), is essential
- Experienced with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) and algorithms (XGBoost, LightGBM, Random Forest)
- Practical experience in deploying machine learning models for predictive and prescriptive analytics
Nice to have:
- Knowledge in Dataiku
- Knowledge of data preparation tools (Alteryx, Tableau Prep) and graph databases/learning
- Experience in the retail, FMCG or consultancy sector
