About the job Senior Consultant of Radiology

The Senior Consultant of Radiology will be mainly responsible to organize and oversee the Radiology sub-Unit. They will be expected to plan all the services to be provided to ISHU clients such as conventional radiology, CT, MRI and ultrasound examination. Therefore, the Senior Consultant will be expected to be excellent in performing and interpreting all these standard procedures. Furthermore, interventional radiology will be provided in ISHU, therefore the ability to perform some standard procedures would be appreciated. The Senior Consultant will work closely with other medical specialists, especially surgeons and intensivists, as part of a team caring for complex patients. They are required to supervise the education of junior roles, so they will be involved with teaching and training junior doctors and should help with both their professional and personal development. They are also responsible for the assessment and appraisal of trainees under their supervision and must keep the Head of the Unit aware of problems that may arise.


Education and Experience profile:

  • A MBChB. or its equivalent from a recognized University or Institution. 
  • A Master of Medicine (M.Med) degree in Radiology or its equivalent.
  • Additional training and certification in Radiology either as Fellow of Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) or American Board of Radiology (ABR) and having practice in multiple disciplines of radiology including Body conventional & Computerized Imaging, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Fluoroscopy and special radiological procedures. 
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in Radiology, or ite related fields.
