About the job Consultant of Thoracic Surgery
The Consultant of Thoracic Surgery will be mainly involved in the care and treatment of the patients within the Unit/ward, but they will also be called to contribute to the department guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Consultant autonomously performs advanced surgical procedures; they report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases and procedures in the Unit. The Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Head of the Unit, oncologists, radiologists, other surgeons, anesthetists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit.
The Consultant will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, they will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Thoracic Surgery or General Surgery
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Thoracic Surgery Unit
