About the job Specialist Medical Officer of Infectious Disease
The Specialist Medical Officer will be involved in the care of the patients within the ward, they will autonomously perform the guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The desired Specialist Medical Officer shall be a blend of technical skills and positive personal attributes. They must be skilled in conducting physical examinations, taking patient medical histories and interpreting the results of diagnostic tests. They will also coordinate patient care with other specialists within ISHU. The Specialist Medical Officer must be skilled at solving problems, communicating with others and making decisions quickly. They can attend periodic meetings with the Consultants, Neurologists, Cardiologists, Internists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit. Finally, they shall apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Infectious Disease (or Tropical Medicine)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- At least three (3) years of work experience in any area related to Infectious Diseases, in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital
