Senior Consultant of Intensive Care Unit

The Senior Consultant of ICU will direct, oversee and ensure the smoothness of the daily work within the subunit of adult and pediatric ICU. They will be mainly involved in the care of the patients in need of intensive care and will also lead the team of physicians evaluating, managing and treating patients within the Hospital whenever they are in need of resuscitation/ urgent critical care. They will also be called to contribute to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. He/she will report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. The Senior Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Head of Unit, surgeons and other specialists to evaluate which cares and procedures perform for the different patients. They will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department. Finally, they should have outstanding clinical and teaching skills.

Education and Experience profile:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med. in Intensive Care Medicine or Anestesiology (or its equivalent)
• Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in Intensive Care or Anesthesiology, of which at least 1 in Intensive Care/Critical Care service as Senior Consultant
