About the job Consultant of Infectious Disease
The Consultant of Infectious Disease will be mainly involved in the care of the patients within the Unit, but they will also be called to contribute to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Infectious Disease Unit. The Consultant autonomously prescribes diagnostic test and therapies; he/she reports daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. The Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Headof Unit, Neurologists, Cardiologists, Internists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit.
The Consultant will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, he/she will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education and Experience profile
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University.
- A M.Med. in Infectious Disease or Tropical Medicine (or equivalent).
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration) to the Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council.
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Infectious or Tropical Disease Unit, in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital.
