The Nursing Officer of OTs (Scrub Nurse) is a key member of the hospital clinical management team whose primary role is to oversee the nursing care provided in the Operating Theatre, Central Sterile Supply, Pre-operative and Post Anesthesia Care areas. Has 24/7 responsibility for the clinical care of patients and operation of the units, manages Enrolled Nurses and Assistant Nursing Officers.
Plans, directs and coordinates surgical and health services. Sets and carries out policies, goals, and procedures for the department and evaluates the quality of the staff’s work. Develops reports and budgets for their Unit. Assures that the needs of the patients and doctors in the Operating Theatre and associated areas are met, resulting in excellent outcomes. Serves as acting Nurse Supervisor as assigned. The incumbent will ensure transparency in all matters pertaining to facility.
Education and Experience profile:
- B.Sc. degree in Nursing from a recognized Institution/University is essential
- Must be registred with Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council
- Post Graduate Diploma in area of specialty e.g. OT
- Minimum eight (8) years of work experience as Registered Nurse in OT
- At least three (3) years as Senior Assistant Nursing Officer preferably in OT
