About the job Head of Emergency Medicine Unit

The Head of Unit of Emergency Medicine (EM) will lead an experienced Medical team, overseeing a comprehensive internal and external clinical emergency program. The Head of Unit will promote periodic meetings with all ISHU Head of Units in order to share methods of intervention and admission to the different wards or discharge from the EM of the patients who join it. The Head of unit will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills and will have a strategic vision for the role of the Emergency Medicine Unit in a rapidly changing medical landscape. Finally, they will cooperate with the Infection Control Unit and Quality Department to prepare suitable procedures to minimize the risk of infections in the Unit and to ensure the correct application of the same.

Education:  

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A M.Med. in Emergency Medicine (or Equivalent)
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
Experience:
  • Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Emergency Room, of which at least three (3) as Senior Consultant.
  • Has previous documented activities as team leaders in health sectors
  • Has previous documented management experience in healthcare facilities
  • Has scientific research titles in Emergency care or related area.
